General

How do they work?

Vessis are 100% waterproof, sand proof, snow and slush proof, as well as wind proof - and it’s not a coating!

Through research and hard work, we were able to develop a proprietary waterproofing technology called Dyma-tex. A special knit made with millions of teeny, tiny holes in the membrane layer allowing for water in vapour form (sweat) and heat to pass through while keeping water molecules (which are too large to pass) from seeping into your Vessis.

This means the element-proofing will last the lifespan of your shoes - so, puddles beware!

Where can I buy Vessis?

You can shop for Vessis online, directly on the website you're on!

We don't currently work with any third party resellers, although we do have the occasional pop-up where you can see the shoes in action. Keep an eye on our Instagram, Twitter and Facebook for info, or sign up for our newsletter at the bottom of this page.

Are Vessis eco-friendly?

Typical manufacturing processes consume large amounts of energy, water and material trim through processing, dyeing textiles, and cutting. Sometimes animal products are used in raw materials such as glue or accessories which makes the process even less sustainable to the environment.

At Vessi, we wanted to change that.

We recognize the impact that our industry has on the planet. That's why we've developed mindful manufacturing practices to reflect our values. Vessis are 100% Vegan, with each pair made with 30% less water, 600% less energy consumption, and less material trim waste by 97% in comparison to conventional practices.

And last but not least, we developed our waterproof layer "Dyma-Tex" which is a membrane made from polyurethane with millions of pores small enough to prevent water molecules from entering, and large enough to allow heat and moisture from our feet to escape. This means we achieve a lifelong waterproofing quality without a harmful chemical or coating.

We care about our planet and aim to help reduce the carbon footprint left by our industry, one shoe at a time.

Where are Vessis made?

Vessis are designed in Vancouver, Canada and manufactured in Taiwan and China.

Are Vessis good for travel?

Definitely!—Vessis are the perfect travel shoes to take along your globetrotting adventures.

They're extremely lightweight, ultra comfortable, and easy to style. Oh, did we mention they're also 100% element proof so you don't have to worry about the rain, snow, mud, slush, drinks at the bar, or sand on the beach?

What type of payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards such as:

We also accept GooglePay, PayPal, Quadpay (this option is for US customers only) and Sezzle (this option is for CA customers only).

What is a pre-order?

A pre-order purchase will allow you to reserve a pair of The Weekend sneakers before they actually arrive! We will be charging a $5 non refundable fee to lock down your pair for you. All proceeds from the down payments will be fully donated to mental health based organizations we've partnered with.

Here are a few important things to note about pre-orders:
  • The $5 fee is non refundable, and taxable.
  • This fee is charged once per pair. This means that if you buy two pairs, you'll be charged a $10 non refundable fee.

What happens after my pre-order is placed?

Once we receive your $5 non refundable pre-order fee, we will automatically reserve that unit for you from our incoming production. The $5 you've already paid will be used towards the final price of the shoes, so you don't have to pay for that twice!

Once the shoes have arrived at our warehouse and are ready to be processed and shipped, we will then charge your payment method on file for the rest of the order cost. If for some reason this bounces back, our system will automatically reattempt to charge again every three days. Do keep in mind however, that we can only hold the reservation for a maximum of 14 days after the first charge attempt. After that, the order will be cancelled and the $5 will not be refunded.

Where will the $5 fee be donated to?

We will be donating the $5 non refundable fee to four different mental health based organizations we've partnered with.

  • The Trevor Project - The Trevor Project is the leading national organization within the United States providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ) young people under 25 years old.
  • BBR Research Foundation - The Brain & Behavior Research Foundation is an organization committed to alleviating the suffering caused by mental illness by awarding grants that will lead to advances and breakthroughs in scientific research.
  • TWLOHA - To Write Love on Her Arms is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire, and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery.
  • CMHA - The Canadian Mental Health Association is an organization with a presence in more than 330 communities across every province and one territory. They provides advocacy, programs and resources that help to prevent mental health problems and illnesses and support recovery.

When do I receive the shoes?

As soon as we have them available at our warehouse, we will start shipping them out! While we do state a ship date on the product page, please do keep in mind that it's an estimated time line since we're bound to production times from the manufacturer.

Can I use my store credit to pay for the pre order?

Unfortunately, our pre-order system can't support store credit purchases. But if you reach out to our Customer Care team they'll be happy to help with this!

I need to edit or cancel my pre-order purchase.

As long as the order hasn't shipped, we can absolutely look into this for you! Please reach out to our Customer Care team for them to help with this. PS: Keep in mind the $5 deposit is non refundable in the case of a cancellation.

Can I mix and match payment methods?

Unfortunately, our system is not able to support that at this time.

Can I combine promotional codes?

Promotional codes can't be combined with each other at this time. This includes, but is not limited to: first time purchase offers, back in stock offers, as well seasonal promotional offers.

We do have some good news, however! If you’re paying with a store credit or gift card, you can still use an applicable promotional code.

How do I get my refund?

Once your Vessis have arrived back at our warehouse, and have been inspected and approved, we will issue your refund right away.

We will process this back onto your original payment method, as we’re unable to refund on any other platform than the one you entered during check out.

Keep in mind that it can take your financial institution 7-14 business days to post this back onto your online banking statement.

Quadpay - Payment Plans (US only)

Good news! You no longer have to wait until your next paycheck to get your hands on some brand new Vessis.

We’ve partnered with QuadPay, a third party payment plan platform, to offer customers the ability to break down their purchase into 4 bi-weekly, interest-free installments. QuadPay is completely secure and only available for US customers at this time.

For the initial sign up, you'll only need to provide your date of birth, mobile number, and either a debit or credit card. After that, and for all future orders you just need to enter that same mobile number to make any new purchases. To use Quadpay, simply select that payment option at checkout.


Late Fees

Keep in mind that while Quadpay doesn't have any extra fees, they do charge a $7 fee for late payments. They also charge an additional $7, one-time late fee, the first time an installment is 7 days past due.

Also helpful to know, is that said late fee can be waived if an installment is paid within 24 hours of the date it was due.

SEZZLE - PAYMENT PLANS (CANADA ONLY)

Good news! You no longer have to wait until your next paycheck to get your hands on some brand new Vessis.

We’ve partnered with Sezzle, a third party payment plan platform, to offer customers the ability to break down their purchase into interest-free installments. As little as 25% is due at the time of the purchase, with the remaining amount spread out over equal installments (typically three), each two weeks apart. Sezzle is completely secure and only available for Canadian customers at this time.

Once you’re ready to check out, select Sezzle as a payment method. This will forward to you to their webpage where you can complete the process.

You will be notified at checkout what sort of payment plan you’re approved for, including how much is due upfront and when the next payments will be. You'll be charged the first installment amount the day that you place your order, and the rest will be automatically scheduled. Don't worry - they send you text and email reminders, so there aren't any surprises!

Late Fees

Keep in mind that while Sezzle doesn't have any extra fees, they might charge a $5 fee for late payments. That said, the first late instalment is generally free and you only have to pay the extra fee on any late payments after that. Also helpful to know, is that said late fee can be waived if an installment is paid within 24 hours of the date it was due.

How does shipping work?

Once your order is placed, it will be processed by one of our warehouses in Chicago, IL or Richmond, BC. This can take anywhere from 1 to 2 business days, not including weekends or Canadian/US holidays.

From there it will be picked up by the shipping company assigned to your order, and your Vessis will begin making their way to their new home. The exact delivery time from this point will vary depending on your location, and the delivery option you selected. For more information on this please refer to the “How long does shipping take?” question in this FAQ section.

Once your order officially ships you’ll receive an automated email letting you know they’re on the way, as well as a tracking number you can use to follow along. Keep in mind that tracking numbers can take a day or two to activate once scanned into the courrier’s system, so you might not see any movement right away.

Last step is to wait eagerly by the door for the mail to arrive - but that’s the best part! Good luck to you and your new Vessis, we know it’ll be love at first sight.

How long does shipping take?

All orders take 1-2 business days for processing. However, we're currently experiencing some delays due to Covid-19, which means processing times can take up to 4 business days at the moment. Once this step is completed your order will ship from one of our warehouses in Chicago, IL or Richmond, BC. The automated shipment notification you will receive at that point will include a tracking number for you to follow your Vessis as they make their way to their new home.

For our North American customers, we ship across both Canada and The United States (including Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and Alaska). Your order will arrive within 2-9 business days once picked up from our warehouse, depending on your location.

For orders outside of North America, your order will arrive between 7-14 business days once picked up from our warehouse, depending on your exact shipping location.

Do you offer express shipping?

At this time, we are not offering express shipping.

When will I get my tracking number?

For North American orders, you'll receive a shipment confirmation email with your tracking number within 1 to 2 business days after your order is placed.

For International orders, please allow up to 5 business days to receive your tracking number.

Once that tracking number arrives in your inbox, it can take up to 2 business days to activate in the carrier’s system so you might not see movement on it right away.

Product Information

Are Vessis Vegan?

Vessis are 100% vegan and creature-free 🌱.

We use water-based adhesives for glue, and our leather and suede are engineered. No animal products found in the places you can see and none in the places you can't!

Are Vessis slip resistant?

Vessis are made with 4-way traction, providing the necessary slip-resistance you need for most activities.

It would be incredibly hard to do the moonwalk in them—but we still ask that you take extra caution for icy or greasy surfaces!

Are they Breathable?

Our shoes are waterproof thanks to a special material we developed called Dyma-tex that contains millions of pores large enough for heat and moisture from our feet to escape, but small enough to prevent outside water from getting in! So Vessis are way more breathable (and lightweight) than traditional waterproof footwear options like rubber boots. Waterproof shoes will always be less breathable than normal shoes, but we thought it was nice to have another option other than heavy, clunky boots in the rain!

Can I swim in my Vessis?

Vessis are not for swimming. While they are 100% waterproof, this is only up to the ankle opening - so choose your puddles wisely!

That said, if water did get inside for whatever reason just let your shoes dry in a well ventilated area and they'll be good for the next rainy day in no time.

Can I run in my Vessis?

Vessis were designed as a casual lifestyle shoe for lightly active use. Short, light jogs are a-okay; and Vessis are great for easy non technical hikes!

But for higher intensity runs, we'd recommend a proper running shoe 😃. 

Are the insoles removable?

Yes, they are!—Vessi's insoles are removable to fit custom insoles and orthotics, allowing you to maximize comfort and support to your liking.

Wearing Vessis without insoles can also free up some space, too. You can use thicker insoles to make up any extra wiggle room as well.

What is the grip like on Vessis?

We’ll break this one down by style for easier information access:

Cityscapes

Our firstborn design; Cityscapes have a three-zone rubber tread designed for lightness and grip for both the city, and light adventures. Rain and mud aren't an issue, but avoid dashing through excessively slippery surfaces!

Everyday Sneaker & Everyday Slip-on

Our new collections have an added two-zone rubber herringbone tread design to increase frontal grip as well as side-to-side traction on wet surfaces. The unique pattern is used to channel water through these zones, and away from the shoe so you can continue stomping through puddles with no fear!

Weekend

These are the strongest design of the bunch! The sole is made of a combination of EVA and rubber! The EVA makes the Weekend sneaker lighter than comparable styles. The full length rubber also makes the Weekend our most slip resistant shoe -  and they are non-marking so you can wear them at the gym or even boating.

How are the styles different?

Great question! While all 3 styles come with our patented Dyma-tex technology - 100% element proof, breathable, and stretchy - each collection offers a slightly different feel, fit and type of wear.

The Cityscape

Walk the city or escape to your adventure. The lightest, and fully waterproof, sneaker out there with a minimalist design that seamlessly transitions you from work to play. Designed with a tapered and slim silhouette.

The Everyday Sneaker

Your everyday go-to. Anything you want to do, whenever you’re in the mood for it. Lace-up for high mobility or let it hang when you want to kick back. Created with a chunkier midsole for additional lateral support, and a higher laces cage for additional foot bridge support.

The Everyday Slip-on

Easy on, easy off. For those days you’re feeling extra cozy. We threw out the laces to get you out the door quicker. Super lightweight, and great for packing into your carry-on!

The Weekend Sneaker

Live everyday like it’s the weekend! With a slightly more relaxed fit compared to the other collections, they feel sturdy with slightly less compression to them. Also designed using our brand new engineered zoning knit made from our very own Dyma-tex. This allows for added breathability and added comfort. Win-win!

Which Vessis have the strongest arch support?

While all Vessis have a relatively low arch support because they’re designed as a casual lifestyle shoe, our Weekend collection offers the strongest boost in that area thanks to the special PU molded insole!

These styles would be best suited for those that require extra help in that department, and those Vessi lovers who would like to wear their shoes for longer periods of time - or during more active activities.

What if I have a latex allergy?

If you have a latex allergy, Vessis might not be the right shoe for you.

The midsoles are made out of lightweight EVA, and the outsole is made of rubber. There is a chance that you would have similar reactions to the rubber material.

Is there a difference between the Men and Women's sizes?

Vessis are unisex, and designed for everyone equally!

Men sizes are 1-2 mm wider than the women's sizes. For ladies looking for a wider fit, we recommend choosing a men's size for a more comfortable feel.

To find your size equivalent in the Men's collection, simply go one size down from your usual women's size. For example, a W9 would be a M8!

Are Vessis safe to use around the swimming pool?

Yes, but be careful!

Your Vessis can handle a little splash from the pool, but try not to soak them in chlorinated or salt water for too long. The chemicals in the water might alter the Dyma-tex knit membrane, causing your Vessis to lose its superpowers (and their warranty).

If you do happen to get chlorine or salt water on them, run them under warm water and use a non-solvent based detergent to clean them.

How do I prolong the life of my Vessis?

Need some handy tips for keeping your Vessis in tip-top shape?

If you live someplace that salts their roads regularly because of snow, for example, be sure to rinse your Vessis on the regular since the salt can erode the soles of your shoes.

When removing your shoes, be mindful of taking them off with your hands rather than kicking them off with your feet.

Some colours look the same, what’s the difference?

Same, but different! Most of the colours you see on the product pages are pretty easy to differentiate, but there are some that might be a little confusing. We’ll break it down:

  • Midnight Black: From our Cityscape and Everyday collections. Available with both a white sole (our core colour way), or an off-white sole (our limited edition colour way). This shade is made with a two way knit for a more uniform shade and darker tone.
  • Moonlight Black: From our Everyday collection, and currently only available with a white sole (limited edition colour way). Created with a three way knit, allowing for a more heathered shade and lighter tone.
  • Storm Black: From our Cityscape line. Available with just a white sole, and part of our core colour way. This shade is also a three way, heathered hue which means a lighter tone as well.
  • All Black: Our darkest dark, from our Everyday collection and only available with a black sole. Also a two tone knit, which means a uniform and dark shade.
  • Pearl White: The Pearl Whites are our original all white Everyday Sneaker with a two toned pattern knit.
  • Cloud White: The Cloud Whites have a finer, tri toned heather blend knit compared to the Pearl White's two toned pattern knit. The tri blend knit is easy to clean, but all white styles require extra TLC to keep them looking fresh!

The Weekend Collection

How do the Weekend sneakers compare to other styles?

The Weekend sneakers have a slightly more relaxed fit compared to our previous Vessis, which fit like a snug sock! They feel more sturdy with slightly less compression to them. They were also created using our brand new engineered zoning knit made from our very own Dyma-tex. This allows for added breathability and added comfort.

What is the sole made of?

The sole is made of a combination of EVA and rubber! The EVA makes the Weekend sneaker lighter than comparable styles. The full length rubber also makes the Weekend our most slip resistant shoe - and they are non-marking so you can wear them at the gym or even boating.


What is the new knit like?

We are introducing an all new knit with the Weekend sneakers launch. Meet our Engineered Zone Knit! Still 100% waterproof and still made from our trusty Dyma-tex knit, but this time taking customer feedback into account.
Different parts of the foot have different mobility needs when wearing a shoe and our engineered Zone Knit features two types of knit structures. On areas that require more elasticity and breathability we've created a more relaxed and flexible knit while areas that need extra support have a more structured knit!
Breathable and adaptable with lots of support - you get the best of both worlds.

Does The Weekend Sneaker have good arch support?

We’re introducing special new Vessi insoles for the Weekend sneaker. They are molded from PU for improved comfort, shock absorption, rebound properties and support so you can comfortably wear them all day! They are also removable so those that require extra arch support can use their custom orthotics without needing to size up.

Is it slip resistant?

Yup! The Weekend Sneaker features a full length rubber outsole for more grip, and new triangular tread pattern for more traction. The Weekend is now officially Vessi’s most slip resistant shoe!

I’m a half size, what should I wear?

If you are most commonly a 9 and 9.5, size down to a 9. If you are most often a 9.5 and 10, size up to 10! Your previous Vessi size is also a great indication of which size you should order.

Are they machine washable?

YES! This is one of our favorite new features. Your Weekend Sneakers are machine washable. Make sure to remove the insoles and laces first (these can be machine washed too, just on their own) and wash them in cold water under a gentle cycle. We recommend a mesh bag as well if you have it! Do not place them in the dryer - you can air dry over night, away from direct heat.

Sizing & Shoe Care

What size should I order?

Vessis fit true to size! Go with your most common US sneaker size, or your next most common size.

Full Size

  • Size 7? You're a size 7 in Vessis.
  • Size 10? You're a size 10 in Vessis.

Half Size

  • Size 7.5? You're a size 8 in Vessis.
  • Between a size 7.5 and 8? You're a size 8 in Vessis.
  • Between a size 8 and 8.5? You're also a size 8 in Vessis.

Keep in mind that each person might like wearing their shoes a little looser, or tighter. This chart is a generalization and might not apply to you. Reach out to us if you want to double check what’ll work best for you - support@vessi.com.

What if they're too tight?

Don't worry if you're finding them slightly tight when you first wear them, we designed them to contour to the shape of your foot. After a few days of wearing it, your Vessis should have adapted to you for a personalized fit.

You can wear them without the insoles for a few days to break them in if you’d like, for added wiggle room!

I have wide feet. Can I fit in Vessis?

Vessi's fit a lot like a sock! They hug and stretch around your foot to adapt to your unique shape with use. While we don’t offer wider sizes at this time, the upper knit is very adaptable to wide feet.

Keep in mind that while our styles are unisex, the men’s sizes are wider with a bigger opening. This means that if you generally wear female shoes in wide fits, picking a smaller size from the men’s line may work since you’d get the room without adding extra length.

Just be sure to go one size down from your women's size to find your perfect fit. For example, a wide W8 would be a M7!

What is the arch support like?

Vessis start with fairly low arch support to accommodate as many feet as possible!

Our insoles add additional cushion and support while our actual midsole is soft yet durable, made out of lightweight EVA.

The insoles are removable to allow you the most customizable fit — feel free to add extra support through special insoles or custom orthotics!

What is the heel-to-toe drop?

The Everyday and Slip-On collections have a heel-to-toe drop of 0.9cm. The Cityscape collection has a drop of 0.8cm and the Weekend collection has a drop of 0.2cm.

How do I clean my Vessis?

You can clean your Vessis easily using a water-based soap, or clear detergent (the ones with yellow hues to them can stain your white sole). We recommend using Dr. Bronner's Pure-Castile Soaps!

Simply run your shoes under warm water, then scrub them with a soft sponge. When you're done, rinse them off and let them dry in a well-ventilated area—your Vessis will be good as new!

*Please do not use the washing machine! This could damage the membrane and void the waterproofing feature as well as your warranty.

How do I dry my Vessis?

Let them dry in a well-ventilated area.

*Do not dry with direct heat! This means no hair dryer, steamer, or drying machine.

How do I store my Vessis?

Store your Vessis in a well-ventilated area. By storing them with proper care, your shoes will stay fresh and functional for a longer period of time.

Returns & Exchanges

Covid-19 Return/Exchange Policy?

In order to facilitate returns and exchanges given the Corona virus situation at hand, we're extending our return and exchange policy from 60 days to 90 days.

Please keep in mind this is only applicable to orders placed after March 1st, 2020. We ask that you make sure your shoes are still:

  • In unworn, not stained, altered, or damaged condition.
  • In their original shoebox. Damaged packaging will incur an additional $5 restocking fee. Please do not tape or write on the box.
  • Gift cards and items marked as Final Sale are non-refundable. This includes orders placed using one of our discount codes, as well as orders already exchanged twice.
  • Orders from countries outside North America will be responsible for any additional shipping and duty fees.

What is your return/exchange policy?

Free returns in North America. Woot-woot!

We're happy to accept returns that are in brand new, original condition packed in their original boxes as well as within 90 days of their delivery date—we'll pay for shipping!

Final Sale Items

Final Sale items are non-refundable. However, you can exchange your item for up to 90 days after shipment. For any refunds requested in this case, they will be issued as store credit.
Please note that after an exchange is made, the order will become a final sale. This means that you can exchange or return for store credit one additional time. After that, your order will no longer be applicable for returns or exchanges. 

Looking for the fine print?

  • Orders placed using TYTEACHER are final sale and can not be exchanged or returned.
  • Returns that are worn, stained, altered, or damaged will not be accepted.
  • Requests submitted after a 90-day period will not be accepted.
  • Returns without original shoebox or damaged packaging will incur an additional $5 restocking fee. Please do not tape or write on the box.
  • Items marked as Final Sale are non-refundable.

Final Sale Items

All shoes and accessories purchased that are marked Final Sale will be non-refundable. They will be eligible for exchanges or refunds in store credit only.

Orders placed using TYTEACHERS however, will not be eligible for exchanges or returns for store credit.

Your store credit will not expire! You can save it until you're ready to make another purchase. The credit can also be used on pre-order items or any future releases coming out soon.

How do I return/exchange my shoes?

Looking for another size, colour, or simply want to return them? You have 90 days from the day your order arrives to make an exchange or return!

We offer free exchanges and returns within North America. International shipping rates may apply.

Before sending back your shoes to us please make sure they’re:

  • In original box

*Please note that after an exchange is made, the order will become a Final Sale. This means that you can exchange or return your shoes for store credit one additional time. After that, your order will no longer be applicable for returns or exchanges.

I've returned my Vessis. When will I get my exchange/refund?

North America (Canada and USA)

Once we receive your shoes back at our warehouse, we'll inspect the condition of your package. When its conditions are approved, we'll send your new pair right away or we’ll issue your refund - depending on the option you chose.

After your package arrives, please kindly allow 7-10 business days to process your returning item(s).

Outside North America (All others)

We recommend sending packages with tracking numbers so that you can see when your package arrives at our warehouse.

We are not responsible for returns not received if they were shipped without a tracking number.

How do I cancel my order?

To cancel your order, please send an e-mail to support@vessi.com so we can process that cancellation request for you asap.

**Please note that due to the quick nature of order fulfillments by our warehouse, there may be a chance that we will be unable to cancel your order**

We want you and your Vessis to be together forever. That's why we stand behind our quality and promise. All Vessis come with a 1 year warranty on any manufacturer defects.

Keep in mind that we don't cover issues caused by modifying, exposing your Vessis to harsh chemicals, or if the defect has been caused by excessive wear and tear.

That said, if you think your Vessis are acting up please don't hesitate to reach and let us know. We’re more than happy to reach out and see what we can do for you!

To start a warranty claim, we ask that you start by filling out this form.

Please kindly allow up to 14 days to process your claim once your completed form is received on our end.
