About Diandri:

Diandri is a secondary school student who wants to ease social isolation within her community by connecting youth with seniors. 

About Connecting Youth with Seniors:

Diandri: "Increased social isolation led to more mental health concerns during the pandemic. I want to create a program within my school to connect youth with seniors, eliminating their mutual social isolation by doing activities together.

Connecting elderly citizens and the youth can decrease loneliness while providing an opportunity for both these age groups to learn, connect and discover so much from one another."

What was your inspiration behind the project?

Diandri: "My grandfather was my main inspiration! My grandfather taught me things that no one ever could, gave me wisdom in decisions, and is my greatest support.

He was the one who made me realize that there is no limit to the amount different generations can learn from one another. Social Isolation is something that my grandfather and many other seniors experience and although I can't be with my grandfather, I can try to eliminate social isolation for seniors in my community.

I strongly believe that as a community we can all be a part of the process."

What is your message to the community? 

Diandri: "One of the most important things you can do on this earth is to let people know that they are not alone :)."
