Tell us a little about yourself!
Hello, I am an educational assistant for a class of students with severe learning difficulties. We are all learning together how to continue our academic growth through technology.
This pandemic has its ups and downs on how it affects me personally. I feel like it’s been a great opportunity to learn from it and learn what’s truly important.
For hobbies I love to be near the water; either swimming, snorkelling or just lounging on the beach with a good book.
Tell us about your #MakeWaves project.
I am part of an ongoing project; The Bright Beginnings Foundation. We formed together years ago when a teacher I worked with retired and had always wanted to form a bursary foundation supporting at risk low income newly graduates from Surrey BC. We are just about to select our third student. We fully fund their choice of post secondary schooling.
We can’t do this alone. It’s really a #makewaves project as the five of us on board are educators and rely on the generosity of others to help us help the students.
Who inspired you?
Newly graduated students from Surrey BC who have the desire for a post secondary education but financially cannot afford to.
Your message to the community
The Bright Beginnings board members understand how important it is for all students to have access to the same post secondary education regardless of their financial situation.
