Making Encouragement Cards For The Community

Esha, North Carolina

Tell us a little about yourself

I work at Pelican’s Sno Balls and have been blessed to be able to still work. I am also an aspiring photographer and academic advisor in the making. As a senior in high school, the coronavirus has had a big impact on my school year and most importantly, my graduation.

Tell us about your #MakeWaves project
For my project, I would like to use the money to make encouragement cards for local medical workers, elderly home, and even my fellow HS seniors. I feel like there’s so much negativity going around that everyone needs some positive things in their life! Medical heroes do SO much and are working really hard during this time. Elderly homes have restricted visitation so it makes me sad that they don’t get to see their families. Finally, for my fellow seniors (averaging to about 40 people), we’re all really sad about what’s happening. I would use the money to buy supplies to make the cards!

Who inspired you?
Medical workers, the elderly, and my fellow seniors.

Your message to the community
Empowering comes in all shapes and forms—and sometimes, it’s as simple as words of encouragement.
